Health Benefits of Enjoying a Sex Video

Multiple studies have found that seeing pornographic material has no long-term negative effects on cognitive abilities or sexual functioning and may even have some positive effects. Despite several studies showing the negative effects of porn on mental health and interpersonal relationships, its popularity persists. After interviewing a sex video expert, researchers concluded in a study published in 2008 that porn consumption had no negative psychological or physiological effects.

In fact, the study subjects reported feeling better about themselves overall, and the researchers found a positive correlation between pornographic media consumption and increased sexual pleasure. What about the old chestnut that porn addiction comes from viewing too much of it? Similar to compulsive nail-biting, some sex researchers, including Dr. Louanne Cole Weston, think it’s important to distinguish between a true addiction and a compulsion. Despite the fact that opinions on this matter remain varied, this is the case.

Practical Side of It

A trusted psychologist informed me a few months ago that most of the folks who argue that pornography is an addiction come from the addiction community rather than the mental health or sexuality fields. Pornographers, are more likely to come from the “addiction world.” Typically, “This is hazardous, and pornography is packed with peril” is what you’ll hear. So be careful now since things are about to get more challenging. It was similar to the way drug addicts’ friends and family would warn their circle of friends: “If you use cannabis, you better watch out because you’ll be taking heroin.”

Having needles shoved in both of your arms and hearing voices in your head muttering about alien satellites isn’t likely to get you sent out on the street and into a sex video. To a limited extent, this may make your arm more of a buffer, but that’s probably about it.
